TRIP LIST

Wednesday 12th April 2017 - Twelve Mile Delta Campground to Wanaka

After breakfast we drove into Queenstown, parked the camper and headed for the main street.  Aylee's wish was to visit Starbucks (because she could and has never been).  She had a strawberries and cream frappe, Nate a mint supreme hot chocolate while Jill and I settled for plain old coffees.

We also called at the Mighty Motorhome shop on the edge of town as our auxiliary battery was playing up.  It wouldn't hold a charge long enough to keep the fridge going all night when we didn't have power.  The kind people replaced the battery, gave us a glass to replace one we'd broken and also gave us a couple of toilet treatments (cost us $2.50 each for those in Christchurch).  We're very happy customers.

Before leaving town we called at a new shopping centre to pick up a few supplies and some sushi for lunch.

Despite its very touristy persona, we were very happy with Queenstown.  Such a pretty place nestled on the foreshore of Lake Wakatipu.
Next stop was Arrowtown, an old gold-mining town where the Chinese made quite an impact.  We had a look at the old Chinese settlement - and very interesting it was.

From Arrowtown we headed towards Wanaka, through gorge country to Cromwell, and then farming land.

Tonight we are staying at the Wanaka Kiwi Holiday Park.  We thought we would give the new battery a proper charge before getting back to the Department of Conservation camps.  A proper shower will also be appreciated.
