We had a long walk this morning to a lookout and then back by the Cemetery. It's overcast and cool with the sun peeking through the clouds as we packed up camp.
First stop was Greenly Beach and Coles Point (Coles Point named by Matthew Flinders after the family of his financer, Sir Isaac Coffin. Coffin funded much of the expedition in the Investigator.
On our way to Elliston we called into the Lake Hamilton Eating House. Built around 1857, the Eating House was used as a stopping place for coaches and travellers on their way to the Far West Coast until the 1880s. The Port Lincoln Caledonian Society restored the property in 1972 to its original condition. Today, it’s the ideal rest spot, providing a fascinating glimpse of the region’s history.
Called in to Elliston for lunch. Leftover chicken stir-fry heated with difficulty in the gale force winds on the oceanfront. After lunch, we did the coast sculpture drive. The limestone rock formations were quite spectacular and the many sculptures were interesting too. The sculptures were initially set up as a community art project to commemorate the Encounter 2002 celebrations marking the 200th anniversary of Matthew Flinders's meeting with Nicolas Baudin's French expedition in the waters off South Australia. They've become quite a tourist attraction

From Elliston, it was on to Streaky Bay and the Bay Islands Caravan Park where we set up with walls again because it is still windy.
