TRIP LIST

Sunday 20 October 2019 - Wyndham Resort, Denarau Island

Before breakfast this morning we went for a walk along the shore to the south of the resort.  The first section is an area that is about to be developed but then we got to an area that looked deserted until we came to what looked like a guardhouse and sure enough there was a guard sitting in it.  We didn't wait around to find out more as we put two and two together and thought we might be trespassing.  Was all a bit strange!  Lots of birdlife along the way.  They do however have quite a problem with Indian Minor birds.  We have noticed a few times the native birds getting a "hard time" from these intruders.

Back to the unit for breakfast and while sitting on the verandah we noticed a mongoose scouting the boundary.

After breakfast this morning we went kayaking.  The water was fairly calm so Jill could enjoy herself as well.  Perhaps it's because there are so many islands just offshore.  We paddled up past a number of resorts skirting around the swimming areas marked out by buoys.  From shore, these swimming areas looked as though they might have been netted (to make them safe from sharks) but when you got closer, we could see that they were just buoys to designate the swimming area.  We thought we had earned a coffee at the Beach Shack by the time we got back.

After lunch, we went to a Coconut demonstration which showed how they open, grate, extract coconut milk etc.

Tonight we had dinner at the Beach Shack admiring the sunset in the process.  On dusk we also saw the Wyndham version of lighting the lamps which included the children dressing up and getting involved.

Glorious sunset.
