Wednesday, 24 January 2007 - Our last day in Saigon

We weren't very impressed with the Saigon Palace.  The foyer was so smoky that Jill needed to hold something over her nose to breathe through.  Not quite as bad today as it was yesterday, but still not good.  Maybe they had some sort of business conference where everyone smoked. And our room was very stinky at first from some sort of air freshener - fortunately, that dissipated fairly quickly with the aircon on.  The aircon was very efficient and much appreciated.

On reflection, we all decided that we'd found the mini-hotels more satisfactory than big places like this.  When we had breakfast this morning, we might have been on the Gold Coast or any other city in the world.  In the mini-hotels, we felt much closer to the local people.  Mind you, the breakfast was delicious - an all-you-can-eat buffet with a huge range.

After breakfast we checked out the rooftop swimming pool.  Even thought about a swim.  Quite a view from up here!  A little last-minute shopping to spend the last of our Dong and a last coffee. (3/10).  We are so looking forward to an Australian coffee soon.

A final repack (we bought an additional bag yesterday), enjoying doing it in the air-conditioned room - it's 39 degrees outside.

The minibus arrived to take us to the airport at 2pm.  We were a little worried that we might end up having to pay for excess luggage, but to our delight we were all ok.

Homeward bound.........
