Breakfast in the Golden Sae I (next door). Quite a selection. Fruit salad (no yoghurt though as we had been advised not to eat the yoghurt in Sapa) followed by Omelette and the excellent Vietnamese bread (the French influence). Jill's feeling a bit poorly today, so she settled for noodle soup with a poached egg in it. She reckons the queasy tummy and sinus issues are a result of splurging at Baguette & Chocolate yesterday. Not that she's complaining. She's also got a headache, so the bus trip down the mountain was not exactly fun. It improved a bit when she moved from the back of the bus to just behind the driver and stopped rolling silk into balls (from the skeins we bought in Sapa).
Stopped at the same place for lunch as on the way up. Good food but no 'walking chicken' this time. We think Anh must have noticed that we didn't eat it last time. It's only 11:00 a.m., and when 6-8 dishes suddenly appear, we say, "We'll never be able to manage that". But we do! We stopped again in the afternoon for mandarins and green tea (with extra hot water, as it was so strong), and ice cream. Good ice cream.
Back at our hotel, Giaboa for showers. It's even over a bath, not just onto the floor in the bathroom. Bliss!
We're then off to the Opera. Well, we thought we were going to the Opera. We got flyers before going up to Sapa, but when we got to the Opera House, there were no lights on. We waited a while, but evidently the show had been cancelled or something. Would have been nice to see inside.
Back to the Highlander for a bite to eat and then the best night's sleep for a while. Probably because we are in a back room and it's so quiet and dark.
