Golf was on the agenda today. Richard and I played the 9 hole course at Bakewell while Jennie and Jill checked out Bakewell. The course was very interesting and very hilly so we both felt we achieved something when we came away without a ‘wipe’.
Lunch was at the Red Lion Hotel – roast beef, gravy, hand-cut chips and salad all for less than £7 – and delicious. Bakewell is a fascinating town. Every way you turn there is another narrow lane, alleyway way or arcade to walk down – all filled with flowers in pots and window boxes and cute little shops. Ill found a shop with gluten-free pies so we were right for dinner for the night.
Back to the motor home via an ice-cream van (Jill had a cider ‘icy pole’ and I had a Strawberry ‘Mr Whippy’ style ice-cream which I doubt had never had a cow anywhere near it. Was quite nice all the same.
Then to the Motorway and heading south. Stopped at a service centre for a Costa’s and wifi and onto our pitch for the night at Wibtoft, near Lutterworth – Kendelie Farm. It used to be a farm but now the owner makes more money from tourists than the farm. Has fish ponds set up and people pay £3.50 per day for the pleasure. We paid £10 for the night with no fishing.
Madly trying to use up everything as the motorhome goes back in the morning and we need to carry everything we own to/on/from public transport to get to our accommodation in London.
