Packed up
this morning for the drive to Halls Creek.
Called at the visitor’s centre on the way out to give mum a ring
(couldn’t get on to her yesterday).
Arrived at Halls Creek just before lunch. Set up camp and went looking for a tyre
repair shop to do a more permanent repair on our tyre. Went to the trouble of removing the tyre
cover and then the tyre from the back door ready for repair. Told the tyre repair that we’d plugged it and
the plug was holding only to be told that’s all he would do at any rate. Tyre
went back on the back door. Guess a
better repair will have to wait until Alice Springs . Off town to have some lunch – a bit hard to
find in Halls Creek. We ended up with
fish and chips at the bakery of all places.
R&R for the afternoon. Wrote
some post cards. Blog up to date.
Off to
dinner at the Kimberley Hotel. We were a
bit nervous about eating out in Halls Creek as the rough guide says food in
Halls Creek is abysmal! Fortunately this
was not the case at the Kimberley Hotel Sportsman’s Bar. We had a delicious Thai Beef Salad ($20) and
Calamari, salad and chips ($18) – both delicious and the best value meal we
have had on the trip.
