A bit of a
walk down the road this morning before breakfast and pack up. It had been a cold night and is still quite
cool this morning.
We suffered
the corrugations back out to the Tanami Track before heading south towards Alice Springs .
Once back on the track the road conditions improved considerably and
remained that way until we reached the Western Australia/Northern Territory
Border.
Put our clocks forward one and a half hours. From the border the road deteriorated somewhat until the first gold mine. From there the road (apart from a few corrugated patches was in pretty good condition all the way to Alice . Mostly we could get along at around 80 kph. Lunch today was beside the road. Along the way we saw a bustard, and emu and several flocks of bright green budgerigars which flew beside and back and forth across the road in front of us.
We drove down a little track at Renehan’s Bore to find a camping spot away from the road – a lovely quiet camp spot made even better with a campfire. It’s cold tonight.
