TRIP LIST

Friday 26th July 2013 – Wolf Creek Crater to Renehan’s Bore

A bit of a walk down the road this morning before breakfast and pack up.  It had been a cold night and is still quite cool this morning.

We suffered the corrugations back out to the Tanami Track before heading south towards Alice Springs.  Once back on the track the road conditions improved considerably and remained that way until we reached the Western Australia/Northern Territory Border.

Put our clocks forward one and a half hours. From the border the road deteriorated somewhat until the first gold mine.  From there the road (apart from a few corrugated patches was in pretty good condition all the way to Alice.  Mostly we could get along at around 80 kph.  Lunch today was beside the road.  Along the way we saw a bustard, and emu and several flocks of bright green budgerigars which flew beside and back and forth across the road in front of us.

We drove down a little track at Renehan’s Bore to find a camping spot away from the road – a lovely quiet camp spot made even better with a campfire.  It’s cold tonight.
