Wednesday 27th September 2017 – At Sea

A nice lazy day at sea today. A late breakfast up on the deck outside the Garden Café, We then played a game of mini golf the closest I've been to a golf ball for goodness knows how long. I then went on the ships rope course rigged above everything else on the rear deck. Enjoyed it so much I went back for another go in the afternoon. A coffee followed at the Atrium Bar, but it was so loud we went out onto the deck for a laze on the lounge.

Back to our cabin for a while then back to the upper-deck for lunch. While there we had the smallest of sailing boats sail by. Glad it was them and not me. There's an amazing amount of shipping in the Baltic. Those to the port travelling east and those to our starboard travelling west (our direction). We must be in the overtaking lane – well we do seem to be overtaking everyone. Quite amazing the speed we appear to be going and how quickly we overtake other ships.

We did manage a bit of a lie-down mid-afternoon after my second go on the ropes and a cocktail at one of the bars. Just about time to pack our bags as we have to have them out tonight to go on the bus tomorrow.

As we get closer to Denmark it's amazing the number of wind turbines we pass in the middle of the sea. There are hundreds of them. I have no idea how far we are from land but there is certainly no sign of it. You would think the turbines are resting on the sea floor however as there does not appear to be any sideways movement in them.

For our final night on board, we booked in to see Cirque Dreams and Steam a steampunk styled dinner show which encompassed acrobatics, juggling, knife throwing, trick bike riding, aerial gymnastics and the like – all very entertaining with spectacular costuming and lighting effects. This was followed a little later by a farewell concert, a few acts (violin player and singer) we did not get to see and a routine from the Burn the Floor dancers. Just amazing once again. Quite separate routines to their show and so well choreographed and synchronised. You can only imagine how much rehearsal time they've put in.

We had heard this afternoon that the ship would be going under the bridge between the Island that Copenhagen is on and the Danish mainland this evening, so after the show, I went up on deck to have a look. I was a little late but could see the bridge in the distance to our stern.

Bags are now packed and outside the door ready to be transferred in the morning.
