Not many birds at our camp on the Barcoo but we did see a Bustard beside the road on our way to Mitchell.
Mitchell is one of our favourite artesian spa destinations and we were also looking forward to a coffee at the cute little cafe in the main street that we had visited last time we had been through. Mind you were were a bit worried about the temperature of the spa after our experience in Blackall yesterday. Checked on WikiCamps and there had been a complaint about the temperature in June but not mentioned since so we hoped all would be well.
Got to Mitchell and the first disappointment was that the cafe had closed down. Got to the pool and asked some people coming out how the temperature was and they said "Don't bother!" so we didn't. Never did find out what was happening. Hopefully, all is well next time.
At this stage, the nosebag was on we were getting keen to be home so we drove on to Roma, fuelled up and headed for Judds Lagoon for camp for the night. Judd's lagoon is a beautiful spot just south of Yulebar. Plenty of room here. While it's only about 4km off the road there is a bit of gravel and I guess that puts a lot of people off.
Firewood available ($6 a bag in an honesty box).
