TRIP LIST

Thursday 14th June. Carnarvon to House Creek Rest Area

We walked down the main street to the water and back before we set off this morning - a pretty spot.  As we get back to the Caravan Park a woman was restocking a tiny stall at the gate of the park with fruit and vegetables from her farm.  We returned with money and bought bananas, tomatoes (Romas even for $2 bag), zucchinis and corn.

Breakfast this morning was on the road heading towards Tom Price.  It's a pretty boring drive and a long way.  Not many trees but it is still green along the edges of the road.  They did have an extended wet season this year.

Lunch was by a lovely river - The Manilya.  The Transport authority (whatever it's called in WA) have put in a number of these free stops - 24-hour camping, with toilets, dump point and picnic tables.  A bit early for camping though.

The further we headed north (north-west) the more interesting the scenery became - termite mounds, huge boulders in one spot, flat-topped hills and spinifex.  The hills in the distance turned to purple as the sun went down.
Camp tonight was at a roadside stop at House Creek.  Another nice sunset.

Between 9 & 10pm (We'd gone to bed) 7 4WD arrived and all these young German folk set up their tents and rooftop tents with the help of very bright torches and quite loud voices.  Talk about being invaded.

We did, however, get a good nights sleep after things settled down.
