After packing up this morning we headed to Scone and the information centre to see if we could get some details on Barrington Tops. Had coffee and pear & walnut tarts in the air-conditioned comfort of Crowded House Cafe while we were stopped. 41 degrees again today.
After fueling up we headed east towards Moonan Flat, travelling along the Pages/Isis/Hunter River Valley before talking the steep climb up the mountain to the Tops. The road was very steep, very windy and gravel so the going was quite slow pulling the Quantum. Pulled off just before entering the Barrington Tops National Park for a bite to eat for lunch and then on to our camp for the night at Polblue camping ground.
After setting up camp we went for a walk around the Polblue Swamp Walk next to the camp. Was about an hour with sections on boardwalks across swampy areas. Was a lovely walk with lots of wildflowers out and masses of the yellow Scottish Broom (unfortunately). It looks quite pretty but would take over the world if given half the chance.
It's much cooler up here already and you can certainly understand that it snows quite heavily here in winter (photos in the information hut to prove it).
Dinner in the cool tonight (for a change), with a lovely sunset and some light rain.
