We have been to Hidden Valley a few times now, and it's become a bit of a favourite place to spend Jill's Birthday. Back in the day, it was great value for money. It's now changed hands and is marketed through Hip Camp. Consequently, its price has gone up and it's no longer the value it used to be. Despite all that, it is still a lovely spot. It's a shame it's not a bit closer to home.
THURSDAY 2 JANUARY 2025
A two-hour drive from Mullumbimby to Hidden Valley, and enough time to set up camp and still be able to have a play in the creek. The creek is a real bonus for this spot - lovely and clear and great for building dams and for floating down. Nate and Claire are with us for the few days and Bradley has also joined us for one night.
FRIDAY 3 JANUARY 2025
Jill's Birthday. Claire and I whipped up a camp oven birthday cake in Arthur's oven (called Arthur's oven because friend Arthur made it for us out of a gas bottle - does a great job). A bit lopsided, but that did not detract from the taste.
Other than that, it was a nice lazy day, hanging around camp and enjoying the creek. Bradley headed home today and we have been joined by Jill's sister Wendy. Claire enjoyed herself taking photos of all the goings on.
SATURDAY 4TH & SUNDAY 5TH JANUARY 2025
Another couple of days in 'paradise'. A bit more birthday celebrations with a dump cake, in the camp oven, and a pavlova and more time in the creek.
Love the creek! Particularly the way that you can hop on a lie-low, or in Claire's case, get into her life jacket and float down the creek for some distance.
A nice restful few days....
