The 180km to Secret Lake from Mullumbimby took us about 2.5 hours, heading out through Casino and down the Summerland Way. As we didn't need power, we pretty well had the unpowered section to ourselves. The camping area is pretty rustic, with not too many flat sites but it didn't take us long to set up. There's rain forecast, so we did put out the awning extension and a couple of walls in preparation. Even set up a "roof" over Nate's swag.

We went for a walk over to the main camping area this morning. Lots of fresh water turtles around the jetty, which were pretty cute. Guess they must be fed. A little later, we did a longer walk along the spillway track and managed to get back to camp before the rain set in. Claire didn't mind the rain, having a shower under the water running off the roof.
The afternoon fined up enough for us to take one of the canoes out onto the lake. The camping area has quite a number of canoes available for campers to use. First time for Claire in a canoe and she was a bit uneasy about at the start - but ended up loving it.Thursday, 24th April 2025
Homeward bound. This time we went up the coast, which meant travelling into Lawerence and taking the ferry across the Clarence River to Maclean. Slightly shorter in distance than via the Summerland Way, but as we called into the Roadhouse at Ballina for lunch, considerably longer in time.
