Monday 16 February 2026 - Oatlands to the airport and home

 

Up and packed by 8.30am for breakfast at Bunch in downtown Oatlands.  We were there a little early, so we had a bit of a walk along the street.  Discovered a lady and her kids picking some apricots in their front yard.  Obviously, it's a good spot for apricots as the tree was loaded.  The nice lady gave us a few.  The house was one of the original sandstone houses that this farming family bought as their shearing quarters.  When not used for that, they put it on Airbnb.

From Oatlands, it was a one-hour drive to the airport to drop off our hire car.  No one was there to meet us at the drop-off, and eventually we were told to just drop the keys into the Europcar office.

The flight back to Mullumbimby was uneventful.  A stopover and lunch in Sydney, then on to the Gold Coast, where Bradley was waiting to pick us up.

It was nice to get back to Tasmania and check out a few spots we had missed on our previous trip.  It is a unique part of Australia.
