TRIP LIST

Wednesday 16th September – Whistler to Vancouver

A slower start this morning considering we only had about 125km to drive to Vancouver. After breakfast at the motel, we had a coffee at Starbucks so that we could access Email (still not working at the motel) and then headed off just as the rain began to fall.

There is a lot of road construction happening between Whistler and Vancouver, getting ready for the Olympics, so progress was fairly slow. We called into Brandy Wine Falls – quite pretty.

On the track, to the falls we had to walk across a railway line. On the way back the Whistler Mountaineer was passing by – no protection. Amazing that they don’t protect people from their own stupidity over here.  Common sense must be a lot more common. From here to Vancouver the rain set in. It would be a beautiful drive on a fine day along the Sea to Sky highway but we didn’t get to see too much of it today. We even had to sit in the car to have our lunch.

Arrived in Vancouver after crossing the Lion’s Gate Bridge about 2pm. Dropped off the hire car and waited for Robert (couch surfer) who had had very generously offered to pick us up.  Back to Tsawwassen to Robert’s trailer on the Bay.   Now, this is a trailer!! - two bedrooms and a living area. Robert’s cooking a roast while Jill and I catch up on correspondence. Still raining!

Tomorrow we are off to Vancouver Island for a couple of days before coming back here on Saturday, ready for the cruise Sunday morning.
