TRIP LIST

Tuesday 15th September – Whistler

Up at 6 this morning to meet for our Bear and Wildlife Viewing at 6:45. There were three of us with our guide Jeff (was disappointed at first that it was not Michael Allen who is the bear expert but Jeff did a terrific job). Jumped into a GMC 4WD and drove up Whistler Mountain. We were very fortunate. We must have seen about a dozen black bears.

Even had a couple of 4-5-year-old sparring with each other. Jeff also showed us a den in a hollow tree. The bears were busy eating berries, mainly huckleberry, putting on weight ready for hibernation. The trip was certainly a highlight. The amazing views down the mountain over Whistler were a bonus.

The tour was about 3.5 hours so by then we were feeling a bit peckish. Brunch was bacon and eggs (and hash browns of course – it is North America!) and then back to the Motel for a bit of a rest - Jill to catch up on her journal and some time for me to get the blog up to date. Can’t post it just yet though – the internet is still down. Have had people running around trying to fix it but no luck.

This evening we went for a walk to the upper village and along Fitzsimmons Creek a forested area which runs between the Whistler Village and the upper village. For dinner, we went out to Sachi Sushi in Main Street. Meal was delicious and highly recommended.
