TRIP LIST

Saturday 3rd October - Valley Ford to San Francisco

Had an easy run into San Francisco this morning.  Called into Petaluma for some breakfast along the way and found an excellent spot at Hallie's.  Unlike last time we were in San Francisco, the weather was fine today and one could actually see the Golden Gate Bridge as we drove across it rather than peer at it through very thick fog.  We couldn't come to San Francisco without driving down Lombard Street so we did that on the way to our hotel near the airport (close and handy for our early flight on Monday morning).

After getting established at the motel we drove back into the city and dropped the car off.   Had a late sushi lunch in Macy's and then caught the cable car over the hill to Fisherman's Wharf.

Took some photos of the bridge and then had a wander down to Pier 39 where all the action is.  There are a lot of sea lions right next to the pier just lolling around on some pontoons in the ferry harbour.  Took some sunset photos of the bridge while we had tea (the tea was pretty ordinary but the view was fantastic).

Caught the cable car back over the hill to downtown.  Was interesting hanging off the side as it rattled along.  It appears that no matter what time of day it is the cable cars are still packed.

From there we caught the train out to the airport and a courtesy bus to the motel. By this time it had turned quite cold so it was good to get inside into a warm room.
