We arrived in Singapore about 4:45am to a temperature of 25 degrees. Soon after we arrived it started raining and the temperature dropped quickly. Caught the shuttle bus to our hotel (the Peninsula Excelsior) only to find that they did not have a booking for Jill and I. We went and had a cup of coffee while they sorted it out (fortunately they did).
Jill and I then caught a Taxi to Vivo City to have lunch with niece Kerrie (and Lindy who was visiting from Melbourne and families and Kerrie’s helper) – 11 of us for lunch. Was nice to catch up.

After a bit of shopping – umbrellas being the first thing on the list we caught the train back three stations from Vivo City to Clarke Quay and walked back to the hotel. Fortunately, by this stage, the rain had stopped so we didn't need the umbrellas after all.
A bit of a rest and then the four of us went for a walk along the riverside walk. Had a couple of pre-dinner drinks overlooking the river before walking to Chinatown for dinner - Quite nice but the spicy fish curry was very hot even though we ordered it medium.

Back then to Raffles (apparently when you go to Singapore you have to go to raffles) for the signature drink 'Singapore Sling'. It cost an arm and a leg - very nice but you only have to do it once.

Bed was very comfortable despite the room being too cold. Couldn't seem to get the air conditioner working so in the end just turned it off.
